NPI Number Lookup
Find Doctors & Organizations in the NPI Registry
Search the NPI registry by provider name, organization, or NPI number to find any doctor, clinic, or healthcare organization in the United States. Every NPI lookup links to the full NPPES record, including practice location, taxonomy specialty, phone number, and Medicare PECOS enrollment status.
Sourced from the official NPPES NPI registry. Last updated June 28, 2026. Refreshed weekly.
Best for finding a specific person or organization. The separate fields return the most precise matches. Add a city, state, or ZIP when the name is common to keep results focused.
Search by an individual's name or by an organization, not both at once. Clear one to switch to the other.
Use this only when you have a fragment, such as part of a clinic name plus a city, or a name and a specialty. For a specific person, the Name & Organization tab returns better matches.
Fastest when you already have the 10-digit number, from a claim, a prescription, or an insurance card. Typos are caught before the search runs.
Easily Find NPI Numbers with Our Lookup Tool
NPI Profile is a free NPI lookup tool for the National Provider Identifier registry. Search by provider name, organization, NPI number, city, state, or specialty to find and verify any doctor, medical practice, or healthcare organization in the United States. Whether you are a medical biller checking a claim, a credentialing specialist confirming a provider, or a patient looking up a doctor, the tool returns the full NPI record from the NPPES database in under a second, with practice address, taxonomy specialty, phone number, and Medicare enrollment status.
How to Look Up an NPI Number
There are three ways to search, so you can start from whatever you already know about a provider:
- Search by name or organization. Enter a first and last name to find an individual provider, or an organization name to find a practice, hospital, or lab. Add a city, state, or ZIP code when the name is common to keep the results focused. Partial names work, so a fragment like "Mem" will match "Memorial."
- Search by keyword. Use the keyword box to match across names, addresses, and specialties at once when you only have pieces of information, such as a clinic name and a city, or a doctor and a specialty.
- Search by NPI number. Enter a 10-digit NPI to go straight to that provider's profile. This is the fastest path when you already have the number from a claim, a prescription, or an insurance card.
How Our NPI Lookup Works
The search is built to handle the messy, real-world queries people actually type. A small typo, a partial name, a maiden name, or a provider who has moved to another state will still turn up the right record instead of an empty page, so you rarely need to know the exact spelling before you start.
Results come back in under a second, even for a common last name searched across more than 9.29 million records. When you search by NPI number, the number is checked for validity before the search runs, so a mistyped digit is caught right away instead of returning nothing. Matches appear as clear provider cards that you can filter on the page and download as a CSV file.
NPI Database Accuracy and Update Frequency
Our National Provider Identifier database is rebuilt every week from the latest NPPES release published by CMS, and the registry statistics shown above update automatically with each sync. Because NPI Profile is an independent, secondary source, there can be a short lag between a provider updating their official record and that change appearing here, so confirm details against the official NPPES registry when you need verification for credentialing, billing, or legal purposes. NPI Profile is not affiliated with NPPES, CMS, or any government agency.
