Can I find a provider's phone number with this tool?
Yes. Each result shows the practice phone and fax on file in the registry, and you can open the full profile for more detail. The numbers come from the provider's own public NPPES record, which is self-reported and may be out of date.
How do I contact the NPI Enumerator or NPPES help line?
If you are trying to reach CMS about your own NPI, this tool will not help, since it searches provider records rather than CMS support. The NPI Enumerator (the CMS contractor that manages NPPES) can be reached at 1-800-465-3203, or by email at [email protected]. That is the official line for NPI applications, updates, and account questions.
Why didn't my number return any results?
A few reasons are common. The number may not be listed in the public registry, the provider may list a different number than the one you have, or there may be a typo. Try a partial number such as the area code plus the first three digits, which the tool also matches.
Which fields does the search cover?
Phone searches check the practice-location phone, the mailing-address phone, and the authorized-official phone. Fax searches check the practice-location and mailing fax numbers. Each result card labels exactly which field your number matched, so you always know why a record appeared.
