This medication may also help reduce how long pain remains after the sores heal.

Antibacterial obtained from Streptomyces orientalis. It is a glycopeptide related to RISTOCETIN that inhibits bacterial cell wall assembly and is toxic to kidneys and the inner ear.

It will not work for bacterial infections in any other part of the body or for viral infections (such as common cold, flu).
