PECOS Lookup
Find NPI numbers enrolled in Medicare
What is PECOS?
PECOS is the online Medicare enrollment management system or Provider, Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System. The PECOS system is a database of providers who have registered with CMS as Medicare providers or suppliers. The system allows providers the ability to renew Medicare enrollment and withdrawals, update provider information, report enrollment record changes, and the ability to electronically sign and submit information. The PECOS program was developed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) after the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was approved.
Providers that want to participate in the Medicare program need to enroll in PECOS with their NPI to avoid denied claims.
